Angelo Manesero is Chief Civil and Structural Engineer responsible for all aspects of design development, multi-discipline co- ordination, planning, construction methodology, geotechnical engineering, value engineering, risk analysis, major temporary and permanent works design, plant and resource selections and engineering staff training and management.
The main types of projects include ports and harbors, offshore structures, shoreline engineering, petrochemical plants, power and desalination plants, airport infrastructure development, primary highway structures, specialist buildings, and non-conventional structures.
He also has experience in Airport projects. He carries out engineering staff management across the company, staff training and progress development, organizes social and technical events and staff morale-boosting sessions. In 2012, Manesero was awarded Engineer of the Year by Construction Week and ranked at 69 of the top 100 most influential Construction Professional in the MENA Region.
Technical Excellence & Structures Lead, ME, AECOM
Anthony McCarter has more than 30 years’ experience in consultancy related to the built environment. He began his career as a structural engineer in the UK, moving to the Middle East more than 20 years ago to work on the design of the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, for which he was the lead structural engineer.
He has worked on many landmark projects throughout the region, with a particular emphasis and passion for high-rise buildings.
Anthony has been with AECOM for eight years in a variety of roles, including leading AECOM’s built environment offering across the Middle East, then in the role of practice line leader for Building Engineering in Europe, Middle East, India and Africa (EMIA) which had a focus on technical excellence for the large, complex projects which AECOM delivers using resources globally. Recently his focus has returned to the Middle East in a dual role, first leading the structural practice, and secondly in a formal Technical Excellence role.
Account Leader and Building Structures Practice Leader, MottMac
Barry Smith is the Middle East Building Structures Practice Leader for Mott MacDonald. He is a degree qualified structural engineer with over 30 years experience. He moved to Dubai in 2007 to join Mott McDonald having previously worked in Sydney and London. Barry has been involved in major projects such as Mall of the Emirates, City Centre Mirdif and Muscat Air Traffic Control Tower.
He was the lead structural engineer for Chifley Tower which is still the tallest building in Sydney. He is currently leading a team of engineers to assess 500+ buildings across Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, China, and Sri Lanka as part of ethical trading in the garment industry.
He is a recognized expert in his field of structural engineering and was selected by insurers, loss adjustors, developers and contractors to investigate structural failures and to act as a structural expert on major international arbitration cases.
Engineering Manager, BAM Higgs & Hill LLC
Denis McNelis joined BAM in 2017 as the engineering manager for the Museum of the Future, a BIM LOD  project. Denis began his career in 1988 working for ARUP in London as a consulting structural engineer after graduating from UCC in Ireland with a 1st class honors degree in Civil Engineering.
After moving back to Ireland in 1991 he went on to work for Punch Engineering starting as a structural engineer and IT support for the computerization of the practice, migrating from the drawing board to AutoCAD.
During this time, he first started working with steel fabricators who were detailing in 3D using StruCAD. In 2001 Denis was made a director of the company.

Fouad Yazbeck CE, MBA, MACI, is the Technical & Commercial Director of Unimix, the leading quality concrete producer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. He is currently involved in some of the largest infrastructure & construction projects in the region. Fouad started his career as area sales manager for BASF Construction Chemicals in Lebanon where he established the company’s presence. He then moved to Abu Dhabi where he was responsible for the concrete admixtures market.
In 2000, Fouad joined Readymix Abu Dhabi as Assistant Technical Manager and was promoted to Technical Manager in 2004 and Chief Technical Officer in 2015. During this period, he grew the department into a fully-fledged research and development hub with a central and satellite concrete laboratories.
He has presented his work in multiple local and international conferences. Mr. Yazbeck has over 20 years of experience in the concrete industry and is Member of the Beirut Order of Engineers, Member of ACI, Founding member of ACI Lebanon Chapter and ACI Dubai Chapter.
Lead Engineer, Calatrava International LLC
Dr. Gerd Birkle is the Lead Engineer for Calatrava International LLC, an architectural and structural engineering firm based in Dubai. In this capacity, Gerd provides local engineering leadership and technical support to all Calatrava regional projects. These include the design of the upcoming tallest tower in the world – the Dubai Creek Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, and the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2020.
Dr. Birkle has over 15 years of experience in the design and construction of infrastructure as well as buildings. He has worked on several internationally renowned projects and is also the author of various academic publications in the field of building and construction.
Dr. Birkle obtained his Ph.D. in structural engineering from the University of Calgary – Canada, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Stuttgart, Germany.

Laith Haboubi has 31 years of experience in construction; having held UK, Middle East, and global roles. He currently heads the materials and forensics division in WSP Middle East.

Nicky Dobreanu works as a managing quantity surveyor for C-Quest, a division of KEO International Consultants. Nicky has a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering, a Bachelor’s Degree in Commercial Management and is currently studying towards an LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (FCIOB), a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI) and a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS). Nicky is also one of the few RICS Certified BIM Managers and BRE BIM Informed Professionals and one of the many PMI Certified Project Management Professionals (PMP).
He started his journey into BIM in 2009 in Ireland, where he assisted practices, universities, and NGOs in the adoption of electronic estimating systems, training to date over 400 students and professionals in the review and quantification of BIM designs.

Stephen Burke started his career in Construction 35 years ago working for a Heavy Civil Engineering Contractor in the UK. A move to VSL, a specialist contractor & bridge partner, subsequently resulted in a relocation to the UAE.
Stephen is currently the General Manager for VSL Middle East LLC and has been based in Dubai for the past 25 years. He has had the privilege to have been involved with the execution and delivery of many landmarks and iconic bridges in the Middle East Region, including the Hodariyat pre-cast segmental stay cable Bridge and the Sheikh Zayed Third Crossing in Abu Dhabi, together with the Garhoud & Business Bay Bridges in Dubai.
Most recently VSL has just completed the works for the cutting edge Stay Cable Bridge on the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Causeway project in Kuwait. VSL are currently working for the main contractor Limak on the Foster & Partners futuristic Kuwait Airport Terminal 2, a project which incorporates a large number of Post -Tensioned Pre-cast concrete elements for the building superstructure.

Yasser is a professional Engineer since 1984 when he graduated from Aleppo University and a Master degree holder in business administration (MBA) from Liverpool University.
After eleven years with governmental and multinational consultancy firms, Yasser moved to the specialised engineering construction field in which he occupied many managerial positions through his career in precast construction industry topped up in 2012 when the newly born DuBox was established.
His experience in construction in general and his background in the precast industry allowed him to participate in bringing many landmarks in UAE to reality.
Being a co-founder of DuBox and from his position as the vice president, he is currently leading a revolutionary move in the construction industry with the concrete modular construction methodology and 3D Concrete printing Research and Development.
Juan Tena Florez
BIM Manager – Design Division, KEO Senior Digital
Juan Tena Florez is a Design Manager (M.Arch) with over 12 years of professional experience (4+ years in Middle East). Digital design specialist in BIM processes and parametric modeling software, as well as in the latest design technologies like VR/AR/MR, 3d printing, point cloud systems and others.
He has completed more than 800 hours postgraduate specialty courses in reinforced concrete, soil mechanics and foundations, steel structure building systems and other structures (Wood, Brick Wall, Pre-stressed Concrete Slab).
He has extensive experience in designing projects from conceptual design through to final construction documents, for private and public sector clients including airports, industrial buildings, offices, retail/commercial, educational, hospitality/housing, sports facilities, government facilities, high rise towers. He is a 3D Studio Max and BIM Level 2 Certified Professional (BRE Academy).
